Brake Maintenance & Repair

Your brakes needs regular maintenance to keep them fit for the road and keep you safe.

The most common brake maintenance is brake disc or brake pad replacement or topping up the brake fluid. The brake pads can be a relatively low-cost fix, while the discs tend to cost more.

We’ll be happy to provide you with a free quote where necessary, but we’ll never carry out work without your permission.

Signs your brakes could be failing

  • Squeaking, grinding or other strange noises. Grinding noises are a particular concern as they can signify that your vehicle’s brake pads have worn down. This can impair your braking time and cause further (more expensive) damage to your brakes, if left.
  • Brake warning lights on your dashboard should be investigated immediately. It could be that you’re brake fluid is low and requires topping up, which is a quick and cheap repair to make.
  • Pulling to one side when you brake could be a sign that there’s a leakage in your brake system
  • Vibrations in your steering wheel or brake pedal should be checked by a trained technician

What should I do if my brakes fail?

Although having your brakes fail can be scary, it’s important to try not to panic. Instead, follow these three steps:

  1. Turn on your emergency hazard lights, make sure your foot is off the accelerator and shift your gears down to slow the car down.
  2. Once the car has slowed down as much as possible and you have found your way to a safe place to stop, very slowly apply the hand brake until you come to a stop.
  3. Get out of the vehicle, find your way to a safe place and call for assistance.

We provide a recovery service for non-start or situations where the vehicle is not drivable.
